Hands-free Intercom in a Theatre or Sterile Department is essential. we have a range of intercom stations including models that are designed especially for clean rooms, Theatre and sterile environments.

The clean room station used has a membrane that covers the keypad, loudspeaker and microphone, so allowing the stations to be wiped down with disinfectants. the stations are normally recessed into the wall and are sealed around the edge to stop contamination.

The stations can have direct access to specific rooms in the Department i.e. staff restrooms, recovery, and if required stations located outside the Department door. In some cases, the intercom systems are linked to the hospital telephone system and can provide outside telephone lines to other hospitals.

Requirements

In some environments pressing a button on the intercom station is not possible, for these areas a foot switch control is possible, this can provide a direct access call to a control room or other area where a surgeon or member of staff may need communications with.

In some theatres. We provide a speaker and microphone in the ceiling for communications with the control room associated with the theatre. The technician in the control room controls the communications, they normally listen to the theatre, then press a button to speak back to the theatre if they need to make any comments, this overcomes any problems of the theatre overhearing conversations in the control room. This mode of communication is used in scanner and endoscopy theatres Where the surgeon needs a technician to make modifications to the displays from the scanner.
